Photography Mentorship for Youth in Agriculture

360 Connect, we know that agriculture isn’t just about production it’s also about people, pride, and powerful stories waiting to be told.

This month, we had the privilege of hosting a photography mentorship session with a group of passionate young Tanzanians interested in visual storytelling within the agriculture space. The session was led by a seasoned photojournalist and senior photographer Mr Shah the founder of Everyday Mbeya, whose generosity went beyond skills—it was about passing on purpose.

“You don’t need $15,000 worth of equipment to tell a great story. All you need is light, intention, and your phone,” he told them.

He walked our participants through the basics of lighting, framing, composition, and ethical storytelling. More importantly, he helped them see that their everyday environments—farms, cooperatives, markets—hold powerful stories that deserve to be captured and shared.

These young storytellers are not just taking photos. They’re creating visibility for rural communities, showing the face of agriculture in Tanzania, and learning to advocate through images.

As part of our ongoing youth engagement under programs like SET Phase II and AgriGRADE, 360 Connect is committed to equipping young people with the skills they need—not just for income, but for voice, identity, and impact.

Stay tuned. The stories they’ll tell are just beginning.
