360 Connect’s Contribution to the SET Phase II Project

Empowering Youth Through Skills – 360 Connect’s Contribution to the SET Phase II Project

Youth across Tanzania face a growing need for practical skills and real opportunities especially in regions where employment options are limited, and many young people are disconnected from formal education. That’s where the Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET) Phase II project steps in.

With support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implementation by Swisscontact, the SET Phase II project focuses on  expanding vocational skills development (VSD) for young people aged  15 to 24 including  young mothers and those who may not have completed school.

The project’s main goal is to improve youth employability in key economic sectors by offering  non-formal, demand-driven training  in areas that reflect the needs of the local labor market.

360 Connect’s Role in Iringa: Practical Support Where It Matters Most

In the  Iringa region, 360 Connect is proud to serve as a key implementing partner, working directly with youth to strengthen their skills in agriculture a sector that remains Tanzania’s largest source of employment.

We are currently supporting 200 young people, many of whom are from rural communities or are facing barriers to employment. Through carefully designed non-formal training programs, we focus on real-world, hands-on learning that goes beyond the classroom.

The training covers essential topics such as:

    • Self-awareness

    • Financial literacy

    • Digital networks and communication

    • Entrepreneurship and business planning

    • Record-keeping and administration

    • Gender awareness

    • Village Community Banking (VICOBA)

This approach ensures that youth are  gaining knowledge and they’re  building confidence and capability to either find meaningful work or start their own agri-enterprises.

“We believe in giving young people tools they can use not just theory. That means getting into the field with them, offering mentorship, and walking alongside them as they grow.”

— 360 Connect Field Officer, Iringa

A Partnership with Long-Term Impact

This collaboration with Swisscontact and SDC is a commitment to youth development and a long-term investment in local communities. Together, we aim to contribute to a stronger, more inclusive rural economy where youth are active contributors and change-makers.

With continued support, we plan to expand our reach and impact even more young people not only in Iringa but across other regions where youth potential is high but opportunities are still too few.

Target Group: Youth aged 15–24, including young mothers
